Why do you want to consider dumping him? Perfectly good squad player as far as I am concerned. Can play in a variety of positions as required - e.g. RB and MF, tackles well, passes well, and IMO is a perfectly good substitute to have on the bench. On all the occasions I've seen him he has not let the team down. Every club has to have these players in order to fit under the cap.

Let's be honest, he sucks. It annoys me on this forum "every team needs squaddies, for what we're paying him it's good" then we complain "this club is complacent, we never strive for glory" you can't have it both ways. Complacency starts from the bottom, every player on the list should be the best possible player /prospect we can get. Yes I understand he's not going to be the different between us winning silverware or not, but he's been at the club long enough for us to see he's not going to get any better then what he is now. Why not cut him and bring in a kid on the same wage? At least a kid or another player could show us maybe he could be something. We all know this guy is shit. I don't see what we'd miss if he was to be let go. In b4 #yoof

Seriously, if he's found his level at Torquay United, he really isn't good enough for us.

If I was to pick I'd play him in midfield before RB. But definitely some players got games given rather than earned last season.

Hasn't had the opportunity? He has had close to 50 games with 3 different coaches (although thats another discussion ) and has failed to become a starting player. Also he has gone through several transfer cycles and no other club or manager has seen the need to bring him in. He unfortunately or fortunately depending on your perspective is locked in as a squad player. Now as a squaddie he is everything you need and I personally think he is a valuable part of the squad. But no opportunity is just not correct. His minutes will depend on other players not him.

You can sum these types up with one word: Nerds... and I dont mean Smart Nerds - I just mean Nerds.

Retre was in the final match-day squad for 20 of our 28 league matches. (Don't have numbers for the 5 FFA Cup matches). That's hardly a player who's not forcing selection. Anyway, I've said enough on this subject. IMO we know the answer to "who's at fault?" The coaching staff. The more you dissect the season the more obvious this answer becomes.

Would have liked to see him at RB on a few occasions as Franjic struggled in the latter part of the season and probably needed a rest to refresh.

He started 3 or 4 games (can't remember and cbf checking )the rest of the time were last 10 minute jobs. 1 of those games when we debuted a 16 year old. His time of cementing a starting position has passed. All he can do is maintain a good work ethic and and do bit jobs when needed. Now this is not meant to be disrespectful just stating how I see it. If he gets more time on the park next season we are in big trouble.

Saw that it premiered yesterday and found the plot very interesting. Will get on it later today.

Next season will be Retre's sixth continuous season for us (signed as a youth player before the 2012/13 season) and so a portion of his contract (30 per cent I think) is excluded from the cap, provided they keep the Loyalty Player concession and his seasons as a youth player qualify as 'service to the club'. Not the only reason we should keep him but a good one to keep in mind. Edit: GreenSeater beat me to it in another thread, but only 30 per cent of his contract sits outside the cap, up to a collective $200k.

I actually rated him when he had an extended spell in the side last season tbh. Wouldn't be on much coin, can play all over the park. Perfect A League squaddie

Good utility type player, not particularly brilliant at anything but quite a good generalist. He reminds me a bit of Broxham. Hasn't had the opportunity to find his feet in our team, but wouldn't mind seeing him get some more minutes especially when our full backs are out of form or we need a bit of hardness in the midfield.

If one thing is quite clear since CFG took over they are pretty much all over all the rules and exemptions regarding the cap.

A wasted season, where the fans (and no doubt the players) feel horribly cheated. Obvious shortcomings not acknowledged or addressed by the club, even when there were golden opportunities to do so. Why didn’t we replace JVS with a more experienced manager? Why didn’t we dip into the January transfer window to bolster our defence? Why didn’t we make some injury replacements? What is the point buying the best race car, if you the hire an unfit driver and your workshop mechanics are inept? The highs – FFA cup trophy, Tim Cahill’s goal against the tards and his header against Adelaide. Arzani & Tongyik. The lows – everything else, but particularly our insipid performance against Perth in the knock out final. Gold stars go to …. Cahill for his goals when they mattered. And for his attitude and continual efforts to represent the club publicly. Fitzy & Caceres. Why were they not played more? Fernando. Pass Sorenson. His non-selection this season was insulting from the moment he took a red for the team due to Rose’s unforgivable back pass in NZ, to being dropped for Bouzanis, who let in goal after soft goal, time and time again Kilkenny. Only just a pass as his discipline was horrendous and his attitude at times bordered on destructive. Arzani, showed plenty and deserved more minutes. Ruon, was thrown to the wolves, but had enough raw talent to keep his head above water. Neither Pass or Fail Bruno. Still scored plenty of goals. Lost his confidence and touch, and should have let someone else take the penalties. Has plenty to reflect upon and improve, particularly with regard to his captaincy. Colazo. Many will disagree, but this guy has quality. Played a blinder in the FFA cup final. Crosses were good. Scored goals. Was played often out of position and needed those around him to be better. Retre. The other young kids that came in during our injury crisis. Fail Brattan. Started like a king, finished like a leper. A big part of the reason we failed in midfield. Jacobson. Was arguably the best defender in the league until injured. Had a horror game against Perth in the final. Malik, Muscat & Rose. Cost us games. Kamau. Cost us games through his poor decision making with the final ball. Bouzanis. Needs to learn the basics of goal keeping and improve his shot stopping and command of the box. Franjic. A shadow of his former self, and was beaten often, or was ineffectual. The Coaching & Football Operations Staff Culpable. From compiling an unbalanced squad, to consistently making stupid decisions every week in terms of selection, man management, accountability, and tactics. Although we were world beaters for the first 2 rounds, beyond this, we were generally outcoached. The FFA cup final was a success. Luckily for us it was at home, and it was the 1st time we met Sydney, otherwise there is no way we would have won it. CFG A fail. When JVS resigned, CFG were presented with opportunity to make a statement that would have potentially salvaged our season. They did nothing other than allow a flawed setup to continue, frustrating and distancing fans, absolutely damaging the City brand and ultimately resulting in a failed, wasted season. They must now address this, and quickly. A statement of intent needs to be made. The fans need to see action that shows they understand where things went wrong.

TTDIM: That I had to go to rural Victoria to prove some cunts that mineral water comes out of the ground sparkling, and did so successfully. Though given how poverty the mineral water in Victoria is I was almost unsuccessful, barely sparkling at all. Nothing like what I've seen in Macedonia where it is literally just shooting out of the ground non-stop and is probably even 'more sparkling' than what you buy in the shop.
