  1. It's really really sad that it probably took you (&everybody else) about 5 seconds at the start of the season to see that this was the most logical formation for the squad we have, yet to my knowledge, we have never played it. i really shouldn't have given up drinking

  2. Well I'm not advocating it, but its true that if we didn't take these people from those countries as refugees then their children wouldn't be born here. So you can't isolate immigration from this debate. Clearly we as a country didn't have a decent plan to assimilate these people and probably took too many as well. Again, I'd like our government to unemotionally analyse what actually happened and make sure "next time" they have a plan that doesn't leave us with a violent crime wave.

  3. But they are mostly the children of immigrants from a couple of African countries. It's disingenuous to suggest there isn't a problem in those communities. What frustrates me is this refusal to accept there is a problem. Everyone knows you can't fix something you won't admit exists.

  4. Well then apart from roads, health, sanitation, security and a $15 million facility what have the Romans ever done for us?

  6. From http://www.a-league.com.au/article/asia-the-target-for-trophy-chasing-melbourne-city/1iar6pz35mr7g1cykkrkvo1eux Melbourne City are dreaming of the AFC Champions League (ACL) ahead of Sunday's clash with Perth Glory and looking to make a couple of statements before the Hyundai A-League finals begin. City can wrap up third spot in the A-League with a win in Western Australia in the final round of the regular season, which would put Michael Valkanis' side in pole position to claim a berth in the preliminary phase of the 2018 ACL. For a club with lofty ambitions of dominating not only Australian but Asian football, City are desperate to make their ACL debut next year, which underlines the importance of their game against Glory. City (39 points) are ahead of fourth-placed Brisbane Roar on goal difference, with Perth (36) in fifth. - See more at: http://www.a-league.com.au/article/asia-the-target-for-trophy-chasing-melbourne-city/1iar6pz35mr7g1cykkrkvo1eux#sthash.ksgpxEYo.dpuf Read more at http://www.a-league.com.au/article/asia-the-target-for-trophy-chasing-melbourne-city/1iar6pz35mr7g1cykkrkvo1eux#gtDZ2H2QMFQZYJGG.99 Well, there's that statement again about dominating Australian and Asian football, but...with all the other results in by the time we play it's going to be fascinating to see what tactics we use in Perth. If, as I expect, Brisbane beat Wellington (or even if they draw), will we go for the win and 3rd place, or will we play it safe and settle for 4th? As I see it Perth will have nothing much to lose and can afford to play an attacking game.

  7. You can't - or shouldn't - isolate immigration from pretty much any debate in this country, because it is a major source of our population growth, and population growth is a major factor in a great many policy matters that we have to deal with. To ignore immigration is stupid head-in-the-sand stuff.

  11. Well that's true, but it's very subjective. You value these tangibles very highly, which is fair enough, but others value the intangibles very highly. It's not that they (we) are wrong though, it's just we have a different perspective. For what it's worth if Mooy (Heart signing) really is a 30m man like the press have suggested, then CFG are ahead right now in pure dollars.

  12. I just like to point out ridiculousness when I see it especially when its just people bitching, moaning and being hypocritically nostalgic about our past. There wassnt a fee per se, but they did build us a 15mil facility, extended it for the womens and brought Cahill in.

  15. Definitely any club where your usual fanboy will talk like "we played well last", "we need to sign ** ", "we didn't defend", when they have never seen them play or even live in the same country. There's a difference between following a club, and supporting a club. I "follow" Port Vale in League One, I don't have their kit or talk about them much, I just "follow" their results and progress. Whereas I support Melbourne Heart(RIP)/City, I go to games, I buy the kit, I watch the women's team, and would let Bruno have my babies.

  16. If you're in favour of prevention rather than jail time then you should be against all immigration from Africa and the Middle East. You can't have your cake and have your house invaded by apex while eating it too.

  18. Funny that we hardly ever see enough of our younger players get enough game time, besides Tongyik. And even he hasn't been given enough of a chance. Given the performances of some of our senior players I doubt these young guys getting the last 15-20 min of every game would impact the team in a bad way at all. So I guess my point is if the above is true why isn't there more push to give young players game time.

  21. Pretty much how I see it. it's not just the cost of locking them up, but the lost positive contribution to society these people could be making. Not only that, but most come out of the system worse. Many unemployable etc. Personally I think prison should only be for violent crime, and I have to say for repeat offenders of violent crimes the current system seems a bit too lenient. So something probably does need to be done about that. But where the system is retarded IMO is for shit like white collar crime, prison makes little sense and i'm sure there are better ways to punish these people and have them repay their debt to society then sending them to prison.
