  1. What can I say that I haven't said so many times. I actually think that we were lucky in this game, we deserved to lose it 6-1 rather than 3-1. Another vintage Heart/City performance crumbling when the pressure is one, so predictable unfortunately. Positives: First 15 minutes cameo from Arzani the game was over after 94 minutes Negatives: No aggression, no intensity, second to every ball, hassled off the ball in yet another timid performance Terrible in transition, either committed too many players forward or too few, always lost the ball attempting slow short passes to static players. Lost shape in defence too often, most of the second half in fact I just don't care about the result any more, we are well on our way to ensuring our 5th place finish and a timid exit after an inevitable pin dive performance in an away final

  3. I wonder if any of you fellas were to provide your instagram username to us, would we find nothing but pictures of you at work on it? Bloody hell. This is pretty ridiculous. I'm not defending Brattan, because he has been poor, but you're really going to have a crack at him for having a life outside of football? Go look at Leo Messi's instagram. Of his last 30 pictures only one of them is of him playing. Does this mean Messi isn't focussed enough on his football? Come on fellas I get you're upset but this is pretty ridiculous.

  5. This discussion has been had many times over nearly seven seasons. During that time we've had just two Head Coaches (van 't Schip and Aloisi) and one Acting/Interim Head Coach (Valkanis). Every season there has been a significant turnover of players, but apart from last season (although we still choked at the end) the end result has been pretty much the same - somewhere on the scale of mediocre to poor. It is the management of the club that is the root cause of our lack of success. I'm afraid that until there is a marked change in management style, involving the setting of stretch performance and results objectives (plus a whole lot more besides), then we will continue to muddle along somewhere on the mediocre-to-poor spectrum. I haven't read anything from City yet on tonight, but I'm certain it will be along the lines of "Disappointing... but...." It won't be hard-hitting, it won't focus on accountabilities and consequences. It's management.

  6. Brattan must be dropped. Arzani needs to be given a chance. Kamau on the bench only. Colazo needs to play for his set pieces and to take pens. And leave Fitzy on the right ffs

  9. Since the games over time to slam the shit out of this guy (also because he's deserved it for a long time) Ever since he came back from thialand, whether he fucked too many thia hookers or whatever, this guy has been shit. This is why me, yes I am putting my hand up to take over his position. I can hold onto the ball for 40 minutes and kill all forward momentum instead of passing the ball on quickly. I can never make a second challenge or even attempt to get back and defend. I can walk around the pitch not giving a fuck about the team. I can do all this at the for a fraction of the price Please sign me Melbourne city. I cant grow long hair like Bratton, but I can borrow my mum's hair extensions

  10. How many times have we scored first and not won?

  11. I'm not really that worried TBH. A large part of me doesn't want any kind of success for the rest of this season, because I simply couldn't handle it after JVS/Allison/JVS if Volkanis were to be appointed for the next one. I'm begging for someone to finally join this club who has a clue about defensive structuring.

  15. Although people might be generally disappointed with Nico Colazo this season, to play Kamau in preference to Colazo just shows how poor a coach Valkanis is. Colazo should have started and then Kamau used as an impact sub for the last 20 minutes if required. He's nothing more than that - an impact sub - and may never be anything more than that (he's 22 in a couple of days time). Just doesn't have the strength or stamina to be anything more. Stupid decision by Valkanis.

  16. You can say this for a majority of the team tbh. I am all for and completely understand that the players go out and do their own thing other than playing football 24/7. But it seems as if they're more concerned about their "image" compared to their declining form. Wether thats Bratten visiting the latest shitty hipster cafe or playing Basketball with his mate Malik, or Franjic and Bouzanis doing instagram stories driving around in their 100k convertible Mercedes, nothing is more frustrating for us supporters seeing this shit and it's as if we're surprised to see them play the way they're playing when the evidence is clearly there that the club is not their priority. Perhaps i am being a little bit harsh but for fuck sake, after 7 years of the same shit, something has to give. We claim to be a big club and how we want to win every trophy there is, but its time for the players to take a good long look at themselves and start playing for the fans and the club.

  20. Hard to tell. It's amazing how different a team can look when they are properly managed. And considering it's the most expensive squad ever assembled i am leaning towards 2. Possibly 3.

  21. Look everyone has to have a life outside of football. But following the guy on Instagram etc. I jut get the impression football isn't his 'absolute' number one and only priority. You compare Mooy and how he had this one minded obsession with training and improving and compare it to Brattan. Obviously a big assumption but it just seems Brattan enjoys his chosen lifestyle too much for football to get in the way of it.

  26. 90% of the time it's due to Brattan, watch him kill the ball when he gets it.

  27. We need quicker passing speed, unless it's a through ball, passing shouldn't be so slow, sometimes guys are standing there waiting for the ball to get to them.

  28. Lets see Valkanis plan b. Easy to pot individuals. We need some solutions.

  41. I don't think that there's a single magic bullet. Forgive the "in my day" thoughts, but when I was a kid I lived for football (and cricket). Watched the firsts one week, the reserves the next. Walked 2 miles to the ground, stood in the pissing rain, nearly froze to death, and was half way home before I could feel my feet again. On the bike down to the station after tea, bought the "Green 'Un", read it from front to back, top to bottom, then read it again. Repeat on a weekly basis. Not much of a player myself, but we played at school in "games periods" then with a tennis ball at recess and lunch. Played for the Old Boys, then the Uni then for the village where I lived. At the weekends we played in the street, forever in trouble when the ball went into someone or other's front garden. That's how you love the game. And of course any kid who was any good was spotted playing and got a trial with Colchester or Leyton Orient or somewhere and was on his way with a bit of luck. The circumstances in the slums and the barrios are different, but it's the same deal really. Everybody's in love with the game and the cream rises to the top. I don't think you'll ever reach the same heights, whatever glossy documents and plans are drawn up, whatever perfect facilities are provided, without being in love with the game. They'll help, of course they will, but they can't replace love.
