  1. Wouldn't your season seat already be yours if you paid for it with your membership. Pretty sure every City member who has a seat at AAMI will keep there seat for the Derby. Should be able to walk upto the turnstyles scan your card and walk to your seat.

  5. In a country with the physical size and population that we have, and with football occupying the position it does in the sporting pecking order, we already have an appropriate B League - it's the National Premier Leagues. In this case I think FFA has got it right in organising the second tier on a regional basis. I just don't believe a nationwide B-League could be financially sustainable. And IMO FFA has rightly dismissed the idea of promotion/relegation on a results basis, at least for the foreseeable future - most of the current A-League clubs would disintegrate if they were relegated out.

  8. ....I wouldn't be surprised if all the negative talk about the NPL coming from some quarters wasn't partly responsible for the reluctance from the FFA to look at a B league. Wether people like it or not, the fact remains that the NPL is the current second-tier competition in the country. I am aware of the gap in quality between the the A-league and the NPL, but is a B league going to be of any better quality than the NPL? If it is, how? And if not (or have it be not that much better), how is that going to be a marketable product and generate the extra revenue needed for the added expenses of each team needing to fly somewhere every other week during the season? Personally I'd like to see the NPL (and possibly also the youth league) improved a fair bit before people start looking at installing another league

  9. To be fair JW I don’t think expansion, let alone promotion/relegation is even on the AFL’s radar at this point in time. Pro/Rel has never been associated with Aussie Rules football and tbh, in a comp as evenly spread as the AFL it doesn’t really need it. Coming from an AFL background I’d be shocked if they looked at expansion again within the next 10 years, and possibly 20. They simply don’t need it being a competition with no direct rivals. As far as football goes we’ve got direct rivals everywhere and pro/rel is so engrained in the football culture worldwide we feel like we are missing out here. IMO its still a good 15-20 years away at least, and that’s probably assuming the game keeps on its upward trajectory. I’ll admit I’m suspicious as to whether we can even afford to expand at present given the clubs making losses and the FFA being fairly cash strapped as it is, but the public and media pressure has grown to the point now where something has/is going to happen. It does seem there’s a plethora of people putting their hands up to throw away their cash so it’s in the FFA’s interest to expand, provided the club doesn’t fall over. An expansion club falling over would be a disaster, but on the flip side if they can hold their own it’s a massive bonus. For mine the FFA should award the two best business cases the licenses by the end of this season at the latest, with the view to launch an A-League team for the 18/19 season. A season in the NPL to get the ball rolling for 17/18 could be an option for the sake of ironing out the creases and developing some top line NPL talent. This gives the clubs the best possible chance to build the club and market it appropriately, and not making it a hack job thrown in. IF there are more than 2 sound clubs ready to go, bring the next two best in for the 19/20 season, in pairs so that we don’t have a stack of byes & midweek games. 12 teams with a 33 game season sounds pretty good to me, 14 teams means either a 39 or 26 game season. As to which teams they should let in, I'm not going to pretend i have any idea about the cases each consortium are putting forward. Anyone not directly involved more than likely has no idea and is speculating. The Brisbane Strikers, Woollongong, South Melbourne and Tasmania appear to have the strongest cases but even then that might be just smoke and mirrors from the respective bids.

  10. Do yellows carry from League to Cup? I know they do the other way because if you're out you dont serve a punishment but I didnt think they applied the other way, the ban would just carry to the next league game? EDIT from the FFA A League Discplinary Regulations 5.7 The accumulation of Yellow Cards will be reset to zero at the end of the last A-League Match of the Regular Season and any Finals Series respectively. This means that Yellow Cards accumulated in the Regular Season do not carry over to any Finals Series and Yellow Cards accumulated in the Finals Series do not carry over to the next Regular Season. Match suspensions incurred as a result of the accumulation of Yellow Cards in either the Regular Season or Finals Series must be served in the next A-League Match in which the Club competes whether that be in the Regular Season or Finals Series. Don't think they can miss the Final, they'd miss the next fixture.

  11. Protesting does not cost money... if it cost money then they probably would not do it as it mean they couldn't update their Macbook/Iphone every year or do alterations to their expensive Racing Bicycles.

  13. Problem is they (FFA ) wont change or remove salary cap. This basic element in their mind is preventing the collapse of the League which in fact is actually the opposite. Secondly the transfer fee ban also is a massive roadblock. You remove these 2 core features you then open the opportunity for smaller clubs to an additional income stream and the smarter/better ones can make some decent money. Travel is also a big cost. But if the tv rights deal included the B League over time the B League could become almost self sufficient. I have zero confidence in the FFA changing their fundamental stance. So the best we can hope for is an expanded A League to maybe 14 teams and a proper FFA Cup (none of this seeded stuff and guaranteed semi final spots) and the winner gaining an Asian Champions spot.

  14. Honestly I dont know why people write off the idea of a national second division. It really wouldn't take much to do it. Yes the revenue won't be as high but neither would the costs. Could see it happening like so: 1. New TV deal finally makes A-League clubs financially stable 2. Salary cap is removed 3. Use the negotiating power of getting rid of the salary cap to convince the PFA to agree to reducing the minimum salary to $40k 4. Allow transfer fees as an equalising measure to help smaller clubs now that the salary cap is gone. 5. Create a 2nd division, the prospect of being able to get promoted to the big money A-League will draw investment into the second division, salaries will be fairly low and probably only cost $1m on average per club, transfer fees will help bring some money down from A-League, smaller attendances just mean smaller stadiums need to be rented which are cheaper, still probably get decent crowds and sponsors since its still a professional national league, would still attract some TV interest. I can see there being enough money around to support a second division given the costs would be significantly lower.

  16. TTIM: Pro and counter rallies for the result of a democratic election in the US taking place in Australia I really don't understand what either side is trying to achieve with all of this shit.

  17. TTIM: The 200 plus Anti-Trump Protesters who turned up at the Pro-Trump Rally yesterday outside Parliament... these blokes rock up and then pat themselves on the back for out chanting the 40 Trump protesters with the chants claiming how: From Melbourne to Washington the PPL need to revolt against Trump. Apparently its an achievement to make 40 Pro Trump Supporters look like idiots to normal people... even though nothing is more idiotic than the statement "40 Pro Trump Supporters on the Steps of Parliament". But apparently PPL need to see 200 plus Members of the Regressive Left lead by blokes in Black Masks aggressively calling for a revolt in Washington and Melbourne acting like idiots as well. As in idiots exactly like those in America whose insulated political views made it possible for an Idiot like Trump to come into Office in first place. The PPL that got this narcissistic fuckhead elected are already doing their hardest to make sure he serves two terms. Yep, what a successful day for levelheaded PPL everywhere...

I really hope that maybe some of the PPL on here who being abled to avoid the MV bullies when they go to games find it so easy to run with with the "Media hates Soccer" and "Police hate Soccer" lines take notice of this article... because those of us from back in the Active Heart Days have seen this contradiction since day dot.

How about getting hit across the face with a belt as you leave a game? These are all examples from the past 12 months, fuck these cunts they bring nothing to the game
