  1. One month ago everyone on this forum was terrified whenever seeing Clisbys name anywhere near the team sheet! 4 weeks on he's been asked to do multiple roles and continues to do his job amazingly well!

  2. Your talking absolute rubbish. He has been one of our best defenders the past few games and has made plenty of successful forward passes

  3. We just won a derby against a team with their backs to the wall, who threw everything at us. Everyone put in a shift. That's how we won.

  4. For what it's worth we still haven't won against a team above us

  5. I'm not for crowd violence, but if berisha scores a goal and celebrates in front of us again, expect a bottle in the face cunt.

  6. ~ Melbourne Table Football Club at City Sqaure (Melbourne city FC's city square outside aami park) Today 5:00pm-7:00pm~ Hi guys Some of you are aware of us but we are heart/city fans who have started a table football club from the ground up and have posted here before back in January where we hosted the table football asian cup. If you are a Melbourne City forum member then you should be well aware of the "flick here for subbuteo" thread We got in contact with Melbourne City if they would like the club to be included in their fan engagement before a home game and they asked us to join them at the derby fixture. We will be setting up at city square (Gosch's Paddock) to hold a demonstration and have people experiment and play the game to see how it all works on a makeshift 3/4 board We will also be selling a few things as well as stickers which are 50 cents each. So come and say hello, We should be operating from 5:00pm to 7:00pm See you later

  7. So many people saying we were so poor in that second half and that without Sorenson pulling some magic out of his arse we'd have lost. You guys realise Sorenson is a member of our team and that's what he's payed to do right? Somebody on the team has to stop the attack, and several times Sorenson stepped up, who reckons he's a wasted VISA spot now? I'd say we were great tonight, beat the reigning champions in the derby after all!

  8. Before the pack jump in, Koren's experience was vital today. Supported well, won his contests, stuck all his passes, should have had an assist. Real class act tonight when we needed it most.

  9. Waste of a visa spot eh @strider? It's those wins you don't deserve that are the sweetest. Our weakest defence all season and we still won

  10. I'm more than happy for a proper guest stint - but it needs to be someone who is willing to put in and realise they are not above the team or the A-League. The comment “The point is he can still deliver on the pitch,” added Da Rocha. “He doesn’t need to train like normal players; he operates a lot on his natural talent.” means a big no for me.

  11. I think Melling is struggling to hold Retre out right now. Apart from that I agree.

  12. As if we needed another reason to love Mooy. It has turned out that that penalty in the FFA Cup pre-season was a big moment for our season, giving Fornaroli lots of confidence. Some great smarts and leadership from Mooy letting Fornaroli take that penalty.

  13. Is this really what we want? A gimmick, a circus? I'm by no means certain that this is what clubs or the league need. I'm inclined to the view that I'd rather we build a squad of players who are committed to the club longer term than have some sort of show pony for a few games. So we get 10,000 more through the gate, but they disappear when the show pony leaves. Very ambivalent about it all.

  14. Strider's weekly "three things I learnt this game": 1. Man-marking Mooy only works 50% of the time 2. Great crowd, good stuff by Melburnians and Co -- they lit a flare on a total fire ban day. Fucking retards. Also took the massive MCFC #TOGETHER WE ARE LOUDER sign down. Disgrace. Take that banner, we'll take the 3 points you mongrels. 3. I guess Sorenson is ok @Dylan

  15. People are saying we were lucky to win, victory should have scored heaps more, but that's bullshit Aloisi unlucky talk imo. We made the most of our chances, Victory did not, and we defended well enough to keep them at bay. We could have had a few more as well.

  16. How anyone could rate clisby over Sorensen amazes me. The only reason and I mean the only reason we won tonight was Sorensen. Haven't read the whole thread. But Clisby was poor. He repeatedly missed the player he was looking for. There is no disguising it. But so is kisnorbo on the ball. A genuine liability. He seemed to be doing his best Colosimo interpretation for large parts of the game. Those two coupled with Erik doing his best to turn the ball over meant we were simply unable to retain possession aside from the 20 minutes when we grabbed two goals. Still at least they lost it going forwards. I remember a lot of games watching where it was lost when passing between colosimo Bolton and whoever was playing at the back with colosimo. we were second best for the first ten minutes and for the 60 minutes after their goal. I'm not actually that upset about it because we won but I'd be rope able if we'd lost. Novillo was disappointing on the night, his two highlights being the tackle which led to the yellow card and his sloooooowwwww walk off. Mooy was his usual self, el tuna very good. Retre scored but was part of a well beaten midfield. Franjic was barely ok. Happy with the win. Lots of work still to be done but feeling better.

  17. Anyway we won! We are officially (still) the Kings of Christmas ! How sweet it is. Enjoy and soak it up people.

  18. Clisby made multiple key tackles, thought he had a good game.

  19. Stressful as fuck but we still got the win. Loved the passion on display - the goal celebrations, multiple players pumping up the crowd, the hugs at the end, Sorrenson at full time and the coming up to our end of the ground. Fantastic.

  22. Great result considering Novillo & Mooy didn't have their usual influence. Thought Harry was awful tbh...petulant, selfish and chose the wrong option repeatedly. Surprised he wasn't hooked earlier. Am glad Sorenson was able to rectify his blunder with some quality saves and thought Franjic was particularly impressive also. Oh and Berisha can eat his own excrement. That guy is an absolute mouth breather. Him & his coach are taking the elevator straight down to the basement when they leave this world.

  23. It seriously baffles me that people continually fail to understand that if CFG was able to do whatever it wanted with regards to the Melbourne City brand, we'd already be in sky blue. CFG tried to do it before we'd even taken the field as the new club and the proposed change of colours was rejected, after Sydney FC protested. That aside, I'd happily cop more sky blue on the home kit, as long as any hint of navy is dumped from our colours permanently.

  24. The difference in the two sides after half time shows the difference in the two coaches tonight. Muscat had Victory fired up and City were rudderless. We were lucky not to lose it.

  25. The best thing about the win was that we dug in and refused to buckle! We are now creating a winning mentality in the team. Up to second I believe, which was a distant dream after that WSW game.

  27. I'm surprised that it's even being discussed that he might have turned a corner. One swallow does not a summer make. Is Steve McClaren suddenly a good coach for making Newcastle beat Liverpool and Spurs? Of course not. Regardless of the result in the Derby, JVS is not a manager for the future.

  28. Bloody oath. Some hard nut from Motherwell or some other shithole as an old school DM would rock this league

  29. Looks like Bruno is really happy here (& why wouldn't he be, 12 goals in 13 games all comps, leading the a league goal scoring etc etc). I can see him being inOz for a number of years. Hopefully he will play for us for a long time to come.

  30. I wouldn't sign him, way too old now. The quote "doesn't need to train" also sent a chill down my spine. Can't see that being good for the culture. Having said that of course I'd be lining up to watch the guy.

  32. The reality though is that we didn't play well and there's still some gap between the sides. The good thing is that now it isn't a player quality gap, its a coaching gap, an issue that can be addressed next season

  33. That was ecstasy. Dominated first half, they dominated the second but some resolute defending and outstanding goal keeping saw us home. Xmas Derby just delivers everysingle time. I think we are legit title contenders now.

  36. Sorensen should have saved that. He just watched it go in thinking it was offside. Absolute prat. Bring on velaphi.

  37. Great first half, but seriously. Sorensen really should have saved that. He just kind of stood there.

  38. Clisby hasn't been a world beater but he's impressed me the last month. Happy to have him in as long as it's at left back and not central.

  40. If we win the derby, I'll be at about 25% in terms of supporting him, but it's hard to forget and forgive after the Jets & WSW losses at AAMI ... those games destroyed a part of my soul
